SOLO ARTIST

Eric Clapton, is an English guitarist and singer-songwriter. Clapton is the only three-time inductee to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame: once as a solo artist, and separately as a member of The Yardbirds and Cream. Clapton has been referred to as one of the most important and influential guitarists of all time. Clapton ranked second in Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” and fourth in Gibson’s Top 50 Guitarists of All Time. Ask someone in their 50s or 60s to name a song by Derek and the Dominos, and they will undoubtedly say “Layla.”.. one of my favorite songs.

The love song Layla was inspired by a classical poet of Persian literature. It is about a tale of a young man who fell hopelessly in love with a beautiful, unavailable woman and who went crazy because he could not marry her. This inspired me to use the album cover art by Emile Theodore Frandsen de Schomberg (1902-1969) in my painting background to keep her spirit alive. She was a beautiful young french artist and called the painting ” La Fille au Bouquet” which I thought was very appropriate for my art piece.

Layla, a great song from a remarkable legendary guitar player Eric Clapton.
